The new Burton Pickleball group will be playing at Burton Memorial Hall every Monday morning from 10am-12 noon, and from 7.45pm-8.45pm on Monday evenings. Open to everyone, no equipment or experience needed, just pop along and play!
Starting from Wednesday 9th November the Memorial Hall in the village are hosting Warm Welcome Wednesdays in the Reception Room at the hall. These sessions are open to everyone who wants to pop along and enjoy a cuppa, have a chat, play a game, do a jigsaw, sit and knit, read a book, whatever you want to do... in comfortable warm surroundings. They are also offering a hot lunch at 1pm, no booking needed. If you'd like to come along and relax please do. You can also bring along your laptop or tablet and access the internet via the hall's free wifi (tech support on site), or charge your tablet or mobile phone up, if you'd like to do so. Also, if you'd like to volunteer to help with making hot drinks and washing up you'll be very welcome! There is also a jigsaw library if you want to borrow a puzzle to do at home.
We've known Alan Hubbard for a long time, he's a near neighbour of ours, so when we heard that he has written his life story, "I'm Alan Hubbard, who are you?" we felt he deserves a mention on BurtonWeb News. The book is a chunky tome: some 337 pages, and is peppered with an assortment of colour and black and white photographs illustrating Alan's life.
